Megathyrsus maximus is nonnative in the neotropics, with a tall form that is commonly used as a forage grass and a smaller-statured form that is considered invasive in south Texas, USA. Biological control researchers are challenged to find an agent that will attack the short form, but not the desirable tall form in other parts of the neotropics. We conducted molecular analyses on 155 Megathyrsus maximus samples from its native range in Africa and compared them with U.S. short-form samples to help determine the geographic origins of its invasion. We found eight distinct genotypes in 34 short-form samples from Texas and Florida, USA. The highest genetic similarity of invasive samples was with plants from South Africa, while highest matches for the desirable tall form were from Kenya, Uganda, Ivory Coast, and Zambia. Ongoing biological control agent exploration and research has found agents from Kenya that are associated with an M. maximus genotype not well matched to the invasive short form, thus leading to a lack of rearing success. Two eriophyoid mite agents from the genetic match locality in South Africa have been evaluated but are not sufficiently host specific, as they develop on both the short and tall forms. Additional exploration is needed at the genetic match populations in South Africa to discover and evaluate potential biological control agents for the invasive form of M. maximus.

Objective/Introduction
Secondary pharmacological interventions have shown promise at reducing the development of posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms (PTSS) in preclinical studies. The present study examined the preliminary efficacy of a 10-day low-dose (20 mg bid) course of hydrocortisone at preventing PTSS in traumatic injury victims.
MethodsSixty-four traumatic injury patients (34% female) were randomly assigned in a double-blind protocol to receive either a 10-day course of hydrocortisone or placebo initiated within 12 hours of the trauma. One-month and 3-months posttrauma participants completed an interview to assess PTSS and self-report measures of depression and health-related quality of life.
ResultsHydrocortisone recipients reported fewer PTSD and depression symptoms, and had greater improvements in health-related quality of life during the first 3 months posttrauma than did placebo recipients. Hydrocortisone recipients who had never received prior mental health treatment had the lowest PTSD scores.
ConclusionLow-dose hydrocortisone may be a promising approach to the prevention of PTSD in acutely injured trauma patients, and may be particularly efficacious in acutely injured trauma victims without a history of significant psychopathology.

A local-remote telerobot control system is described which is being developed for time-delayed groundremote control of space telerobotic systems. The system includes a local site operator interface for interactive command building and sequencing for supervised autonomy and a remote site: the Modular Telerobot Task Execution System (MOTES), to provide the remote site task execution capability. The local site system also provides stereo graphics overlay on video with interactive update of the remote environmental model. The operator selects objects in the environment to interact with and skill types to specify the tasks to be performed, such as grasping a module or opening a door.

Suppose $r=p^b$, where $p$ is a prime. Let $V$ be an $n$-dimensional ${\rm GF}(r)$-space and $G$ a subgroup of ${\rm A\Gamma L}(V) \cong {\rm A\Gamma L}(n,r)$ containing all translations and acting primitively on the set of vectors in $V$. Denote by $G_0$ the stabilizer in $G$ of the zero vector, so that $G_0 \le {\rm \Gamma L}(V) \cong {\rm \Gamma L}(n,r)$ and $G$ is the semidirect product of $V$ and $G_0$. Suppose that the generalized Fitting subgroup $F^*(G_0)$ of $G_0$ is an exceptional (twisted or untwisted, quasisimple) Chevalley group and that $\Gamma$ is a graph structure on $V$ on which $G$ acts primitively and distance transitively. The content of this paper is that then $G$ and $\Gamma$ are known. This result solves an open case in the outstanding problem of classifying all finite primitive distance-transitive groups. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: primary 20B25; secondary 05C25, 20Gxx, 05E30.

The classification of all finite primitive distance-transitive graphs is basically divided into two cases. In the one case, known as the almost simple case, we have an almost simple group acting primitively as a group of automorphisms on the graph. In the other case, known as the affine case, the vertices of the graph can be identified with the vectors of a finite-dimensional vector space over some finite field. In this case the automorphism group G of the graph Γ contains a normal p-subgroup N which is elementary Abelian and acts regularly on the set of vertices of Γ. Let G0 be the subgroup of G that stabilizes a vertex. Identifying the vertices of Γ with G0-cosets in G, one obtains a vector space V on which N acts as a group of translations, G0, stabilizes 0 and, as Γ is primitive, G0 acts irreducibly on V.
